Setting up new fish pond

Today we are setting up the new fish pond so we can let it get settled before we move some fish :)
We will also be painting the dining room
See I told you before that weeping cherry tree was going to have to come out, but that's down the road, all those privet's along the house will also be coming out 'later"
because today it's all about getting the pond level and filling with water, I will be adding rock around it too at a later date
there's that blasted hand railing again, I really don't like it, but hubby has spoken on that subject, so I will be good LOL
there we go, this is the view I will get of the pond out the big front window and yes I like it.

also moved more bedding plants and some planters and benches from the old house, had to decorate the front stoop a little bit even though we don't live here yet!!

here we go, photo of the before in the dining room, remember that UFO looking light that you can pull down or let it retract back up, weird but haven't replaced it, we will do that after we move in, however, when it came time to clean and paint this room, well let's just say that everything was removed from the room EXCEPT that cuckoo clock on the wall, and I know her son sent it over here from Germany while he was in the war, soooo, you can bet your britches I was NOT wanting to mess with that!!, so HA HA have you ever tried to clean and paint around one of them suckers? Well let me tell you, it's not easy, but I did manage to take it down long enough for the kidders to paint behind it! and sneak it back up on the wall ;)
THAT was a harrowing experience, so afraid I would break it!!
can you guess if they look guilty or not? HA no they are just sick of getting their photo taken!
the new color is called "Mark Twain House Olive"
it will be getting another coat of paint and we will need to finish up the ceiling paint trim, but it's coming along, in a few weeks we will be moving in :0) YAY!!!!!

Painting kids room

Told you I would be back with some kids room painting :)
They are sooo in love with the new bedrooms, and they are upstairs, how cool is that to have a whole level and a bathroom all for themselves? Trust me, they are so eager to get paint done that one bedroom isn't even getting painted, just a good cleaning and new window treatments!!
Alright, they are excited, let's head up there now
heathens!!!

Here is the first bedroom that is NOT getting painted
just waiting for it to be emptied out so we can get in and scrub down walls, replace window treatments and scrub the gorgeous hardwood floors, both bedrooms upstairs are identical in size, just mirror opposites with the bathroom in between the rooms

here we go to the second bedroom, the once pretty and serene bedroom
"before"

has now turned into a "cosmic blue" nightmare for me, I really really don't like this dark paint but hey, it is the kids room, so I guess I had to cave in and let Grandma buy this paint right? Who can argue with Grandma!!

yes, as you can see, it got a first coat of paint on it, and my golly gosh, it's going to need another coat and much trim painting done, since this is my daughter's room, yes, surprised you didn't I? skateboard and blue paint? well not the boys' room, but daughters!!!
Should have seen that one coming eh?
she just isn't right!!!*@!* 0^0
but you can see she is VERY happy with the new room
Thanks a lot Grandma!!
so yep, even though I dislike VERY MUCH this color, I will deal with it for now, but you can bet when it comes time to do a repaint job in this room, I don't care how OLD she is at that time, SHE is priming and painting it, that was the deal we made! so there!
my luck she will never leave LOL

Painting at new house

So it's now July 22, 2009 and we are down at the new house cleaning and painting all the rooms that the neighbor has emptied out for us, everything is now piled into the living room that they need to move, so we will be working on the bedrooms and bathrooms and getting some outside things touched up with fresh paint as well today :)

yup, won't be long and we will get to clean and paint in here too

but for now, you can see the "before" and "after of the lower level bathroom
and yes, someday we will definitely be replacing some countertops and sink/tub, but for now we can deal with the vintage 1965 stuff LOL

"before"

"after"
nothing like some a window treatment, new flooring and paint can make a big difference!!
It's getting there a little at a time, by the time we move our stuff in we can at least know it's been cleaned and painted and revamped :)

hand rail scraped/sanded and repainted, should last a few years now ~ and do you see the weeping cherry tree above, oh yes, that needs to come out, because I am putting in my fish pond a little higher up from where it is, I want to see it out the front big window :)

Garage door scraped off and getting a new paint job

ha ha, and remember I said the washer and dryer would not be in my kitchen? . . .
it was the first thing that got ripped out!!

was ever so happy to NOT see that in the kitchen!

and how about the lower level bedroom, which will be my office/computer room? Remember that spacey looking wall lamp?

"before"

and after ~ yes, that spacey looking wall lamp is still there, decided to keep it for my artwork I will be doing when I get my work table moved down here ~ repainted, scrubbed the wonderful hardwood floors, put up new  roman shades and have some of my office furniture moved in

am loving the color I am getting on the walls in my office!! as you can see, one wall is still white, haven't gotten that far, and need to touch up around the ceiling yet
and LOVE my new roman shades, can't wait to get everything in here and all set up!

then what was the "piano" room is turning into our bedroom on the main level and even though I liked the color it was, well it may look pretty in the picture, but it needed major touch ups everywhere, so decided to paint it fresh and neutral
"before"

and in progress, the piano and bed are waiting to be moved, so we just had to paint around it, shoved them into the center of the room so we could begin neutral paint and get the roman shades up :)

woo hooie, it's getting there ~ next will be the upstairs kidders bedroom cleaning and painting!!
are we having fun yet? . . .

Last family gathering at old house

It's been a wonderful 8 years at the old house, we survived a flood in 2005 in which we were out of the home for 4 months while they lifted the home, tore out the collapsing basement and rebuilt it, all during our oldest sons senior year of school, but we survived that and had some great times remodeling and rebuilding everything, gonna miss you old house!

So here we are, the last family gathering at the old place, we will see you all again from now on at the new house!! Happy 4th of July!!

even the critters tried to get in the last family photo!!

Great Grandmother Landis' homestead

Took a little trip with my sister out to visit a great aunt who lives next door to where my Great Grandparent Landis' lived, took some photos, the new owner has added a bathroom onto the front of the house, when great grandma lived there we had to use the outhouse! it's gone now ha ha
the new owner had plans on siding the rest of the house, not sure when, but they have added a new roof to it and new windows as well, they seem to keep it pretty nice, and they love the area
little work shed on my great aunts property LOVE THIS!!!
I can see some old weathered wood window boxes made to hang on the windows with some bright red geraniums in them ;0)
