New box turtle pen/enclosure

Yesterday I mentioned I had a new enclosure for my box turtles, so today I came out and took a photo of the new area :)
I put this in last November when we did the drainage ditch around the house and had to move their pen, I looked today but don't see them up yet for the year

Yard is seeded yeah

Finally, the grass seed is down, the straw is down, it's time to water it in good and wait for it to grow :)
talk about muddy, we all have boots that are mud covered
my poor new sidewalk has suffered during all of this yard work
didn't seed right up to the house because I didn't want to battle grass if I decide to put a flowerbed back there

 water water and more water

that was a LOT of grass seed!
the railroad ties and little pond is where I decided to create a new turtle pen, they have their own pond and they love it in there!
when we put in the drainage around the house, we also put in a drain pipe out in the ditch and covered it over level, finally, no more weed whackin that ditch, I can mow it!
by the time I get it all done, I will have used the whole roll

see out by the road, that used to be a darn ditch that was 3-4 feet deep, always had to use the weed-eater to keep it nice looking, but now it is level and oh soo nice
Backfire up there in the door, you can just see her head, watching the boy out there teasing her
she has the door screen all tore up! brat cat

Mama's baby

What can I say, she is spoiled rotten, she misses me when I go off to work, if I try to get work done on the computer or am texting someone she's right there on my lap

Yard settled where we ran our drainage pipe to road

Last fall I posted about the yard work that needed done in the spring after the dirt had a chance to settle, this is an update and we got some gravel, after the spring melt off we get a very muddy driveway plus the farmer uses our driveway to access the pasture field behind our house to check on the baby calves
here is the tore up yard again after we scraped it around to level it out better since it settled over winter
oh yes, I know it's still horrible looking
and there sits my poor shrub they took out, I wasn't allowed to put it back in until they made sure everything was ok with the drainage ditch
flowerbeds are slowly trying to come to life

looks better, the new gravel that is, but we have a ton of family gatherings here and I decided we needed a new parking area for everyone
so this is the plan I made for hubby, he thinks I am just nuts but oh well, I usually get my way EVENTUALLY
guess this is what I get for not letting her come outside with me, she sits in the window and runs from room to room to peek out windows and doors to see where I am at

sooo, it's later now, after supper and these photos have been lightened so you can actually see them, we also had to wait for the neighbors wheels LOL grab a huge log, an old set of bed springs and start dragging the yard to help level it and get all the rocks out
yes, there are dirt specks all over the camera lens and photos from the dust flying around
Kota driving and I don't know where the hubby went, probably to get another log for weight

he isn't complaining, he loves driving the ranger!
ok hmm "angels" or something? I think it's either dust or maybe a lightning bug, not a clue where those came from in this photo but they sure look like little angels LOL
that metal bed spring sure does drag the dirt around pretty good

ahhh there he is, more weight!
 whatever gets the job done
next, get the bigger rocks picked up then seed and straw over top and a good soaking!

Update on living room paint

with work, I find it hard to complete a project sometimes in a timely manner, as much as I would like to say I can do this all in a day, I can't, so here we are a bit later with some updated photos of the living room trim paint and wall painting
Backfire, she truly is trying to ignore me! Every time I go to take the photo she looks down and the opposite way of where I want her to look, but you can see the baseboard and window trim is painted, it took 3 coats of paint to get it nice looking and I am pleased with it
told ya, ignoring me good
awww mom, just get it over with already!
stuff put back on the walls, had to close the blinds, the sun is streaming through there and all my photos were turning out too dark, almost black looking so closed up the blinds and flipped on the lighs
I am debating on whether or not to paint the door, I want to replace it, but not sure when I will get to that, so maybe I will end up painting that front door yet
notice I have not yet bought the new light switch covers
sorry about the spots, not sure what's up with that, must be some dust on my lens, will have to fix that before I get the camera out next time!
still organizing the book shelf
rug trying to roll up on me, had it rolled up when painting and should have rolled it the opposite way!

yep, hmmm  have I mentioned that I don't like the doors in this house, not liking the orange at all, must really think about painting them, why not? I have enough paint and see, need new switch plate covers there too, also if you notice in the mirror LOL I have a lamp there heading to the goodwill box and you can see my wood shelf/coat rack in the hallway still needs taken down and painted behind it, so see, I don't get everything done all at once, it takes time but eventually I will get there!

Update on root cellar in basement

Ok it's been a little bit since the first starter photos of the root cellar we decided to build in the basement, but again, with both of us working we find it hard to remember to snap photos during the whole process especially when we both are hands on trying to get stuff done while we are both here at the same time to do the projects
try not to "notice" the mess down here LOL it's still under construction and reorganizing

the door, it was free from hubbys work, they get pallets of laminate in and in order for the 2 pallets to be held together they glue on these doors, yes really they do and when they get to the bottom of the laminate, those doors get thrown away, so we got a freebie treasure and built this area with that in mind
as soon as he put up the drywall, I got out the paint, I wanted it done because its right beside my laundry area and I hated walking through that mess to do laundry, and that laundry basket in middle of floor, that is there because just upstairs right above it, there is a linen closet outside the bathroom, I had the dear husband cut a hole in the bottom of the cabinet so I could use it as a laundry shoot HA HA and it works perfectly!
Hey~why carry the dirty clothes down if you don't have to, I mean, you have to drag them back upstairs this was just saving a trip carrying them down there
don't mind the mess, the paint cans will soon be gone, that photo will be heading out the door, the stuff piled over there usually is stored under the steps that come down into basement, but right now I have all my boxes of canning jar supplies stacked over there until we get shelving in the new room
do you see the inside of that door, those lines all scruffy looking, that is where it was glued to the pallets, granted I wouldn't want it for my main floor door, but its ideal for here, can't beat free!
stepping in the doorway you can see no shelves built yet, just some spuds that are patiently waiting for me to get them out into the garden along with onion sets, and we left the shower in that corner, just in case, you just never know when you may want water in this room!
our picking crates, and the cat, this is a new area she thinks she needs to investigate when the door is opened
just another view inside

the silver thing in the window is insulated panel, it will keep it cool and dark in here
told you, see all those boxes of jars that need cleaned and put away (plus some stuff we didn't put into the shed for winter that needs to go back outside), as soon as we get this stuff all put away I can get to cleaning the old floor and finish painting it - those metal shelving units were here when we moved in, they aren't the best and I keep debating on what to actually do with them
ready to can, I am, I am so ready to fill those jars instead of looking at them :)
