Schoenbrunn Village

a trip to Schoenbrunn Village with my sister and daughter :) It was first opening day so folks could walk through, I took them because I go there every Monday when they are closed, I volunteer to mow all this beautiful village area as well as down below at the park area, I love it!!

isn't it just such a pretty day?

We should make postcards from some of these photographs LOL

mustache? not sure what she's doing???

I could live in one of these cabins for sure!

so lush and green, all the beautiful cabins are nicely kept up

Did you enjoy your walk thru the village with us? Glad you stopped by, see you next time!

That BEAN TREE!

HA HA remember what I told you about ladders in trees!!!
Bean tree is coming up or should I say coming down LOL hubby is laid off, so perfect time for us to get things done that require us both to do, this tree and the cleanup is one of them things :)
heh heh heh down you are coming Mr. Messy Bean Tree
the wood pile is really getting big! more for the wood burner next year and the fire pit :)
farmer John gave me the old garden way cart, he said it sat in their old barn for nearly 20 years, he was glad to give to us to get some use out of it, had to air up the tires but other than that it works perfect!!
lots of wood!!

hubby is up there in that mess SOMEWHERE
got the boy on the chainsaw, geesh don't cut your feet off!
HA guess who is supervising all this, HAR ok, well maybe the dog is . . .
OMG LOL LOOK AT HER FACE!!!! a little hot there sweetie? even the dog is looking up like oh Lord help us all, mom's gonna catch the valley on fire!!!

Some of the flower gardens & hanging egg basket planters

Time to show you some of the flower gardens I have started here at the new house
HA HA my rock garden, I have plenty of field stones to create flower beds with!!!!
This poor old dogwood tree is barely hanging on, but as long as it continues to bloom for me, I won't replace it, however I am going to go back in grandma's woods and find some young ones to bring here to plant for when this one keels over
more of the iris from my mother in this end along with small lilac bush and other odds n ends
some pretties by the front door
farmer John next door brought me 3 old egg baskets, so I planted them up with some pretties and used straw instead of moss around it
I have them hanging on the back kitchen porch, give them some time to fill out, I just planted them :)

Chestnut branches cleanup

uh oh . . . remember what I said about ladders leaning against trees?
Well I see a ladder leaning against that bean tree up in the corner, ya know what that means? hubby'g getting chainsaw happy, and I we still have not finished chopping and stacking the chestnut trees!
but that's ok we might as well get to it all at once and do the cleanup only once right?

chainsaw is getting a workout today
branches everywhere
welp, got work to do, will post more of the flowerbeds later :)

More morel mushrooms & homemade pies

oh yes, more morels have been caught!
NICE SHROOMIES!!!
more hunting outback, these were the pics of the day
one happy hubby
so he can clean them up for supper, my daughter wanted to make a pie, cherry pie to be exact, so she set to making her pie and I set to making my apple crumb pie, so we broke out a jar of our apple pie filling that we had canned for me and she set to making a pretty pie for herself,
LOL yes she is 15 and Justin Bieber is her idol right now, she even learned how to make pretties for on top of the pie and how to crimp the edges, never too late to learn, someday she can make it all from scratch for me
and my apple crumb topped pie

Recipe for the apple pie filling we canned and I used for my pie
if you want a crumb topping on your pie, just mix your oatmeal, brown sugar and a little flour, half a stick of butter and crumble it on top instead of putting a lid on the pie

and yes, I like to make my own recipe books and digital scrapbook as well, this is a page from my recipe book.

the finished pies! YUMMY!!
It's sprinkling outside, but makes for some pretty photo snapping, the hosta are coming in pretty good out under the old maple tree
hosta around the dogwood tree are filling in pretty nice too
the old split rail fence was here but I added all the other plants and have some double clematis planted on each post, they were a birthday gift from a friend that I transplanted from the old house and they survived the winter YEAH!
You can see I finally got the front window trim painted, had to put rocks under the ladders one leg to have it stand properly, but it worked ok, and see the strip of flowers along the walkway, all those were transplants from the old house and all are looking great, they must be happy here :)
