Root cellar gets shelving Yay
finally, it's that time, we are building the shelving unit for the root cellar/pantry that we built in basement
and as usual, my help was needed, it's never until I get my hands free that I can grab the camera
outside looking in
I asked for this top shelf to be half sized, so that I could SEE what was on it without the step stool
picking/potato crates snug underneath, going to need support though on those shelves for sure
just a test run to see if things like boxes of canning jars and stock pots will fit ok and so far so good
of course,we did measure everything when we planned it, from the width between the shelves and to how deep they were so the jars would fit nicely, you can see we also have the support running up the front now so the shelves don't sag when they are loaded down
at doorway looking in, we have yet another wall of shelves to put up yet back there where the bench sits with the bucket on it
you can see I wasn't wasting any time getting my goods on the shelves, this was what we canned in the fall of 2011: salsa, ketchup, chili base, spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes, tomato juice, sweet pickles, dill pickles, peppers, and the jellies from spring-summer time
ahh that's better, this shelving unit is to the left when you are looking in the door, the curve is to make it easier to get in the door without a sharp corner
top shelf: salsa and jellies
second shelf: ketchup, spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes and more stewed tomatoes
3rd shelf: chili base, pickles
bottom shelf: more jams & jellies, spiced peaches, pears, peppers (3 kinds) and dilly beans
ahhhh so pretty and soo yummy
